Knights Field is located at the heart of the University of Bridgeport’s campus. Knights Field playing area measures 75 yards by 120 yards and covers a total of 109,000 square feet. Knights Field opened in 2007, installed with synthetic turf, Duraspine, is a third-generation monofilament turf system introduced by FieldTurf. The arched profile features a durable “spine” which runs vertically through the center of each fiber. Much like a vein on a blade of grass, this spine gives each fiber “memory” and thus resistance to matting and enhances ball roll properties. Knights Field was re-turfed in 2016.
Many professional soccer clubs in the US and abroad who use FieldTurf on their home fields or training pitches. The New York Red Bulls, FC Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City and Werder Bremen are just some of the teams across the world using FieldTurf. Knights Field has the capacity to seat 10,000 spectators. Knights Field has bathrooms and concessions underneath the bleachers. Knights Field is used as a training facility by local youth soccer clubs in the Fairfield County area. Knights Field is the home to DII Women’s Soccer National Champions, the University of Bridgeport Women’s Soccer.
